2.3 engine not starting after messing with center console

I loosened my center console and unplugged some wires (heated seats, windows, traction control, defrost, 4 ways) after reassembling the whole thing, my car will turn over but sounds like it isn't getting either fuel or spark(not even trying to run). I'm not familiar with these cars, I just got it l. I'm not sure if it's a security thing or a sensor or something or if I accidentally tampered with a wire and messed something up. Help or any ideas would be appreciated! I haven't gotten a chance to dig into it again and see what I can find yet but I'll update you if I make new discoveries

Is it an auto?

Does the car have an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser?

The removal of those items isn't something that would usually be associated to the car not starting so a bit of a strange one.

Battery got more than 12v?

Might be worth picking through some of the fuses and seeing if anything has popped like fuel pump relay. There is a fuse listing on the back of the fuse box lid.

Check the immobiliser isn't still active, try the spare key if you have one.

@NZ00Z3 is probably the best one to ask.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your problem, but if you had a working car then took it apart and now it doesn't work, I think you should double, even triple check you have connected everything back up correctly.
Apologies if this is stating the obvious ;)

Can't think of anything in the center console that would stop the engine from starting.

You've got a crank, no start situation. Read this thread. While it is for the E46, lots of it is relevant to your car.

I checked the fuse box, no blown fuses. I didn't check the battery voltage but it's a relatively new battery and I have plenty of power to crank the engine. I tried using the spare key (Incase it was a security thing), same issue. The only clues I have are that the EML light comes on and I can't find anything in the owners manual about that other than saying that it comes on when there's an electrical problem, and the other thing is the temperature gauge goes all the way up and stays there till I turn the car off.

I removed the whole center console and instrument panel, I didn't find anything obviously loose or accidentally unplugged but I found several wiring connectors that do not attach to anything. None of them have obvious homes that I saw. My Z3 does have an aftermarket radio so if someone them were part of the old radio system, that would make sense. Attached are pictures of the connectors without homes

If you have an EML light, you need to scan the engine computer (DME) to see what codes are present.

A simple OBD2 EML327 adapter and a smart phone app like OBD Fusion is a cheap set up and works well. There are other options too.

I'm not familiar with scanning the DME. Is that different than scanning the obdII? I scanned the OBD II and it has an error.

It's the same thing.

You could always tell us what the code number and description is? That way we might be able to help you.

The little plug is for a light. I think the other plug is for the hazard warning switch. If it is for the switch, the light will be for the ashtray.

Clutching at straws but there is the alarm light fitted at the rear of the centre console. If this hadn't been plugged back in, could it cause the problem?

Just had this same problem. Found a blown fuse (#26) which controlled a number of important functions. Changed it and started up.
