Hi guy’s
My 2001 model roadster has a very specific transmission whine that occurs between 70 and 74 mph, not noticeable before or after these speeds. When present is constant on or off throttle any ideas as to cause ?
The car has covered approx 50 thousand miles.
Happy motoring
Mick

I thought at one time I had noticed a similar whine but it turned out to be wife reacting to the wind in her hair.................................... Frankie

LOL Frankie ! That would be a cheap fix.
Forgot to mention the car is fitted with an auto gearbox.

I had a similar issue with my 2000 Z3 2.0 a few years ago. As it got worse I was afraid I had transmission problem developing but as it turned out it was the bearing in the auxiliary belt tensioner failing. Might be worth removing the belt(s) and checking.

Tony.
