Hello!
I have been wrestling with this issue here and on a couple of other forums. I have a 1999 BMW Z3 2.3 with the M52TUB25 motor. The car has 120K miles on it and is a recent purchase. I am preparing to overhaul the cooling system and trying to get as many parts as possible before diving in to the job. I found most of the parts I needed on realoem, etc. but I have not been able to locate a diagram (with part numbers) that describes the coolant hoses that exit the engine side of the expansion tank (which is located behind the left front strut tower).

I have easily found the cooling diagram for the M52 which is what shows up on realoem when I enter the last 7 digits of my VIN. That diagram however shows the expansion tank next to the radiator so any hoses in that diagram that involve the expansion tank are not correct. The realoem screens are below:

I tried backing into a diagram by finding the full part number for the "Radiator Coolant Hose Upper CRP CHR0025P fits 99-02 BMW Z3 2.5L-L6" that runs from the nipple just above the upper radiator hose on the radiator to the top of the expansion tank. By entering the part number from the eBay ad, 11531435122, realoem takes me to the final diagram below which does show the hose I entered (item #4) and the correct expansion tank but does not show any information about the hose that exits the bottom of the expansion tank and heads over toward the block.

So if anyone has a diagram that shows the correct cooling hoses for this car, I would appreciate your assistance. Thank you everyone for your time!!

The RealOEM diagram is wrong. I get the same picture of the expansion tank next to the radiator for both of my Z3's, which have the expansion tank next to the strut tower (VIN LL33005 & LG73383).

If you click on a part number it takes you to the cars that the part is used in e.g. Z3 E36. Click on the Z3 E36 and it will show you which models of the Z3 the part is used on.

Hi Murray!
Right, yes, I understand that. But I would need part numbers to see them in realoem. And I do not have part numbers for the hose leaving the side of the expansion tank that heads to heater core on firewall. I can probably find that one by looking at pictures on ebay. For example, in this listing (https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Heater...9oAAOSwbopZPU3w:sc:USPSFirstClass!95020!US!-1), the part number is listed in the details section of the ad - that number is 64 21 8 376 608. I can look up that number in realoem and there it is but it points back to the 2 diagrams I already know about, neither showing the hose that leaves the side of the expansion tank.

More than guessing by pictures, I worry about not just that hose but any of the other hoses that might be different because of the placement of the expansion tank in the Z3. So I am most concerned about the cooling pipes under the manifold - are they the same as M52 diagram?

It looks to me from trying to see under the manifold, that the plastic cooling pipes are the same? And that I only need the hose in the ebay link above to resolve all differences created by placement of the expansion tank in Z3? Besides the single hose listed above, do I need any additional hoses?

Murray, thank you for responding!
