Can anyone help an old fool test the seat adjustment switch on a Z3 2.8 1999 model (I believe US Manufactured and exported to Japan before ending up with me in 2019 in UK) ) . I have removed the offending passenger sport seat ( Blows fuse instantly new one installed) . Ive put 12 volts through the motors directly and they're fine. I've dismantled the switch and can't see anything burnt to or potentially shorting but if I put the switch in line it instantly trips my s12 v supply so I suspect something is up with the switch . However before launching off to buy a replacement switch and seat loom can anyone tell me how to specifically test the switch and/or the relay which is the other possible culprit. I have a multimeter but no knowledge how to use it to test the switch etc when no power is being connected , or is that impossible?
N.B. All wires seem to test intact and visually look undamaged.
