Hi ,
Need to buy a brand new set of tyres for my newly purchased Z3.
Just wondering what you all have as a recommendation based on your practical experience. Do not need the car for track racing etc - those days are behind me. As mid range budget what are Falken or Hankook like or should I splash out more cash for top of the range Michelins? I do about 7000 miles per year.
Size is 225/50R16/92W
Many Thanks
Brian

I’ve used Falkens on my ///M great in summer and ok in the wet but you have to respect these rear wheel drive cars in the wet and drive accordingly.

On my wife’s Cooper S I switch can’t remember which mid ranges where on there to pilot sports were a step up in performance. If you shop about and look for deals/discounts you certainly can save a few £££.

Following recommendations on the forum, I fitted Falken XE914's on the rear a few years ago. They have now done ~17k miles and still good. Also fitted Falken Ecoruns on front last summer, 914's no longer available, but hardly done any mileage to judge yet.
Bought them through this site https://www.blackcircles.com

I'm afraid I'm in the Michelin PS4 camp. Had them on my M and now on the e89. Amazing in the dry and very good in the wet but they are not cheap

Thanks guys - very much appreciated. I think the XE914 Falkens have been replaced with ZE310. Although the treads are WELL within spec the issue I have is that the tyres are>10 years old so I think these must be changed as part of my re-commissioning in getting the car back on the road.

Yep - previously had Michelin Sport on front and they still had plenty of tread after ~40k but 11 years old and sidewalls starting to crack.

Thanks guys - just had another chat with the tyre guy and he rated Falkens BUT I am unsure of the new part number so maybe going with the Avons as I need a new set.
Are the Avons good on mileage or ? The guy also said that Avons were a softer tyre but gripped well......does he know his stuff I wonder?

I would agree with Nodzed, there is no doubting the quality of Michelin’s, it really is down to cost and what you want to pay.

I agree with Dakar..is mileage/mpg a big consideration if you are doing 7k a year ?
