1998 Z3 seat

So my drivers seat is stuck in the all the way up position, and I'm really sick of hitting my head on the roof. Any help? I can hear and feel the seat twitching with I move the switch up and down.

I'm assuming there isn't anything wedged under the seat which may be stopping it from moving? It might be worth a gentle tap underneath with a hammer or similar item.

Failing that at least the seat can be moved forwards/backwards to access the nuts/bolts to remove the seat and investigate better.

I've had it out to do seat bushes, no obstructions. It's been hit with grease and hammers.
