I’m now working on trying to get my 1997 1.9 z3 back on the road which has been sitting for a few years.
I have put a new battery on and changed the plugs.

At present the car is turning over and I have a spark from the plugs. But I don’t seems to be get petrol through. Also the hazards seem to keep flashing.
So I’m assuming that is is going to be a immobiliser problem not a fuel pump .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck with getting it sorted, have you drained the old fuel and replaced?

If your hazards are flashing it means the alarm system is activated hence won’t start. You can switch the system off under the bonnet if you have the round type key. Or remember to hit the fob to release the alarm off.

There's a little white control box in the left of the boot, behind the pump if fitted, unplugged on mine, it's supposed to be some sort of alarm control box. Could try unplugging it.

Mine was right down in the rear wheel well on the left, behind the carpet.

According to the great god google it’s some sort of alarm control box. Mine was already disconnected, and full of water.

On mine it was right down at the very bottom of the wheel well. From what I’ve read they an cause all sorts of problems. Mine was in a puddle of water, the connector pulled off and the wires cut for good measure. Someone certainly made sure it wasn’t being recommissioned.

The unit that sits in the left hand side well in the boot is the tilt sensor part of the alarm syatem, often drown in water if you have a leaking boot. Try disconnecting it and make sure the plug wires are insulated and in good order, they often corrode and fall apart with green gunge as the copper corrodes. Leave it disconnected and see if that makes any difference. The alarm should cancel once the correct key is put in the ignition and turned on.
The part number is
65756923210
Inclination Indicator.

It may never have been fitted - when I previously looked into this it seemed that they weren't always in that era. I have a 12/97 build - 04/98 first reg the connector is there as part of the standard loom, but no sign of anything else ever having been fitted.
With regard to your start problem, I can start my car with the alarm set.
If I sit in the car with the alarm set/doors locked and turn the ignition on the car starts, the doors unlock., the hazards flash and the siren sounds. If that is wrong then it has been for ~10 years with no problems.
If you think you are not getting fuel through, then I would start by checking pump fuses 13&18. If they are ok it is fairly easy job to access fuel filter and check for flow to filter outlet.
