Reluctantly, I am selling my baby! 'Fritz' is a now appreciating sort after 1997 2.8 pre facelift ‘wide arse’, in Montreal Blue. 25 years old this month and owned by me since June 2013. In that time he’s been well looked after and well-travelled, Le Mans 24 & Classic, Spa and Nurnburgring plus.
As you can see from the list below, I have kept on top of things and sorted when required. I upgraded to my Z4 E89 last year, and along with my 330, I can’t really justify three Beamers taking up space on the drive! Therefore, with a very heavy heart I am going to let it go.
My Zed is not concours, there is a bit of 25 year patina obviously, few minor ware scuffs on the seats, but it is extremely reliable, therefore I would not hesitate to set sail into Europe again tomorrow if I needed to.
• 2x front wishbone bushes replaced with Power Flex polyurathane £40, fitted and front tracked £136.80
• Replace both front rack ends (tie rods) and track rod ends plus front tracked again. £167.40
• New Sachs viscous fan fitted, bearings & water pump checked. £180.00
• S/Steel Cat back fitted by Custom Chrome, Nuneaton. Lifetime guarantee fully transferable. £485.00
• New 096 Enduroline 75Ah 700CCA battery fitted. 4 year warranty. £63.54
• New control arms fitted. £104
• New ARB drop links and ARB rubber bushes fitted £35
• Gearbox oil (Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w-80) & Rear Diff. oil (Fuchs Titan Sintopoid 75w-90) changed.
• Full under body Dinitrol treatment. £80
• 4x AC Schnitzer Type III 17x 8.5J fitted.
• R785 SVN re registered to K100 FLR
• New crankshaft oil seal, clutch, clutch release bearing, gaskets and crankshaft end plate. Regas aircon. £800.00.
• New Sachs rear shock, top mounts fitted.
• Oil change and filter Castol Magnatec FS 5w 30.
• Alanko alternator (90a), Meyle (alt pwr steer) belt, Denkermann (air con) belt & 2x JP Group tensioners fitted my me supplied by Auto doc
GmbH, Germany. £136.85.
• New throttle control valve bowden cable fitted, plus replacement alarm siren fitted and wired.
• Steering wheel recovered by Royale
• AC Schnitzer strut brace
• Sills and front wings off checked and protected (one wing replaced with one from USA)
