Every picture tells a story mate  Looks as though there's not much waste there Adrian. Good luck on recycling it all and keeping Z's going

The fuel filter doesn't have jubilee clips as standard. That's points deducted at concours.
They do, one jubilee and one crimp on each end. Would be very difficult to change the filter without a removable clip at each end of the filter.

Great picture! Now I can see where the brake lines are. Aquasteel time for them is next for me. Underneath looks good on that car. Another less Z3 on the road making them even rarer which seems to be the fate of many sportscars. When was the last time you saw a Mitsubishi FTO ? Used to see them daily now a rare sight. Luckily our cars don't seem to rust too badly

Clips similar to the white one are the standard fit, but they break and peeps make do with a bit of fuel hose and a couple of jubilee clips (as shown in fuel filter piccy).

They're fancy - don't know when they changed but the early models were jubilee clips. The one I removed from my 98 had original filter and clips as per Adrian's pic. Early model diagrams on Realoem also show clips.IMG_1559.JPG

That's what the parts list shows and what BMW replace broken clips with, but the ones that I broke on the M were the ones shown in the photo.

I have jubilee clips on now. The original ones are push-fit, but won't come off unless you have fingers as strong as eagle's talons. There is a tool to remove them, but I didn't know about it back in 2010.

It's a shame, really, as my car is original in every other way:whistle:.

Interesting - what year was your M? - mine was on a 12/97 build M44 1.9 and appeared to be with original filter fittings.
