What 16 to 20 pin adapters are people using with the Autophix reader? I went to plug the one in I've been using with the SnapOn tester from work and it won't fit! It looks like the centre strip on the Autophix plug is too fat for the adapter.

The 20 pin connection is round on a Z3, located under the bonnet.

Yes I know, the picture is of the other end of the round 20 pin one that plugs into the 16 pin plug from the tester if that makes sense.

Hi Tony, yes I have one of those which works fine with the snapon tester but the inner plug on the 20 pin to 16 pin adapter won't fit into the plug on this tester, when I get time I'll try trimming it down a bit but was just wondering what brand/make you guy's are using in case I need to order another one.

Have you tried plugging the tester directly into a 16 pin socket on another vehicle?I have had several different testers and always used the adapters bought off eBay or Amazon and have not come across this problem, nor have I heard that anyone else has to be honest. It’s a new one.

It reads this car fine through the 16 pin port but only the engine side, I need to connect through the 20 pin for everything else. I have just managed to get it to fit by trimming the plug down a bit but it's coming up with communication error on the ABS side, the snapon tester reads the ABS okay using this adapter so it's a bit of a mystery, unless the Autophix tester isn't good enough! I've got a nice three day trip in the car starting tomorrow so I'll have to have a play around when I get back.

The only things you can read through the port under the dash are the engine and Auto gearbox ECUs. Everything else is done through the "Pacman" connector in the engine bay.
Are you going to ZedFest on Sunday?
Sorry to say I would be pointing the finger at your code reader as being at fault.

I agree, it must be the tester, I may send this one back and try a Foxwell one! as the snapon one reads everything fine through the 'Pacman' port and no we're not going unfortunately, we've got a trip planned to visit family about an hour from you actually and to look at a couple of houses. I'll message you when we're back about an Aux air blanking plug too
