Hi fellas, was under the z3 Saturday changing an engine mount and replacing the cross brace I had bought off spurs fan in a coupe. I knew I had an oil leak on it as there an oil stain on my drive. So it's coming from the rocker gasket also looks like it's coming from the oil filter housing where it bolts to the block, I've already got the gasket for the oil filter plus the o rings for the bit inside(can't remember the name of it) lol.
So guys what's the recommended rocker gasket for the z3 1.9 m44 please I see ebay has a Febi? Also is sealant recommended for this please, as everytime I do a rocker gasket it still leaks, and I end up putting it in to garage for them to do it. Wish they still made them out of Cork lol

Febi or Payen brands are good, you do need to put gasket sealant only around the half moon shapes and between the Vanos at the front and back of the cover where the gasket changes direction, the remainder is put on dry. The gasket has a series of ribs around the circumference that compress to achieve the seal across the width of the head. Do get a gasket set that includes the 14 round rubber seals for under the cover retaining bolts, these go hard with time and age from repeated heat cycles the same as the main gasket. New bolt seals will allow the cover to be torqued down to spec and achieve the desired tightness to compress the gasket for a good seal.

I just replaced the gasket for the oil filter housing to block on a fellow members M43 engined car, not that bad a job, drive belts off then take alternator out to allow room to get at the housing bolts, make a note where the bolts come from they are different lengths, I poke them through some cardboard in the orintation they come out so they dont get mixed up. I used Blue Hylomar gasket sealant on the gasket to hold it in place when putting it back together.
