Hi, I am a new member on here having aquired a Z3 1.9 recently. I previously had a Westfield kit car but I am getting on in years and decided that I needed something a bit more civilised, e.g. a roof, heater, better ride etc.

I am very happy with my Z3 and enjoy the ride ,the car feels 'planted' on the road and is very comfortable. However the performance is down from what I was used to and I am already considering a 2.8 engined car.

My question here concerns the various items under the bonnet and I have been looking for an engine map to point out the various components ,so far without success, I would be pleased if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks Peter

Yours will likely be the M43 1.9 rated at 117HP. Twin cam 1.9s (M44) had 138HP.:thumbsup:

Some pics of the car and the parts on the engine that I cannot identify, all comments welcome but unfortunately no prizes for the correct number of answers. I have never had a BMW before so parts may be obvious to BMW owners. The car is a 1.9 ,dont know the bhp I didnt realise there was a single and twin cam.
thanks

Hi, welcome from Mansfield.

The Z3 had 2 1.9 endings;
1996 to 1998 - M44 - 138bhp
1999 to 2002 - M43 - 119bhp

Looks like yours is the M43 engine.
