I bought a ‘99 2.3 with the Getrag 250 and 127k miles about two months ago. When I shift, there is a clutter sound (not grinding), it’s the worst between 1st and 2nd, little better from 2nd to 3rd, and better in higher gears. The gear switching also isn’t smooth, it takes effort to slide the gears in which made me think the tranny fluid needed a refill, so I bled the old and put in a new one, but the problems are still there. Could it be the shifter rod? What else?
