footrest

A friend wants to buy a manual Z3 but is equipped with looong legs ;-) In my automatic Z3 he sits fine when placing his left foot between the dead pedal and the break pedal as enough space is there to rest his leg. I am wondering: could one remove the whole deadpedal and drive without it? If so...
