cam shaft sensor e46

Ran diagnostics on mates E46 325ti today, he has a fault, Camshaft sensor Bank 1 no signal. As there are two sensors fitted and they are different, one has a wire and socket attached, the other is just a sensor with a socket on it. Question is which is Bank 1 and which is Bank 2? Items 5 and 18...
