I thought I would come out of the cracks - this forum has been a life saver over the years as I keep my 1999 2.8 Z3 up to scratch.

I’m a fan of keeping the car true to its original state as best I can, which normally means a couple of in house fixes every year.

Bought in 2014, it’s by far the my favourite car and hopefully I can share a few tips with others moving forwards.

Decent advice taken from this forum includes re-spray work and fuel sender replacement work amongst others.

Yesterday my wing mirror decided to give up the ghost so I found myself back here...

Hi from South Shields,
I have a problem with my door mirror too, electrics OK, but I knocked it while walking past and it snapped.
Temporary fix was to Gorilla glue the alloy tube while waiting for the new plastic fitting to arrive. Been out and about in the car and the glue still holding and the electrics still work !

thanks for the tip - did you order the XR8 fix? I’m not sure about the black base on these.

Yes, that's the one, I haven't ordered it yet. I will be painting the base to match the car before fitting.
If you decide to glue, be sure to mask off all of the bottom of the mirror housing and the top face of the base, only apply to the metal. Any glue on the plastic will mean that disassembling will be impossible. I used a cotton bud to apply the glue in very small amounts

Thanks again - i'll try that. If you don't mind me asking - which Gorilla glue did you use?

Cheers
