How To Sell A Z3M Roadster..

Hi Everyone,

I know this is my first post and I'll probably get flamed for the topic as I'm taking a lot more that I'm contributing but hopefully someone will be able to help me out.

My Dad has a Z3M Roadster but he's just had some knee surgery and he's talking about selling it on for something automatic.
He's asked me to put it on the net for sale but I'd like to try and learn a little bit about the actual car and what people are looking for so I'm actually prepared for any questions.

I've driven the car a few time, including a huge drive through France so I know it drives and handles well. From my research on the forum it looks like there are a few things that I need to check and photograph when I visit the old man this weekend to sort out the advert.

I know it's an S50 Engine being a 1998/99 and he had the Vanos unit replaced recently but there doesn't seem to be much else I need to make people aware of about the engine right?Other than the standard service history stuff?

I know I also need to check and photography the boot floor for cracks around the edges to make sure it hasn't twisted.

Other than those two specialist bits (and the obvious leaking hoods/milky windows that convertibles get) is there anything specific I should be checking for that buyers will want to know about a roadster or anything I should look for that will make it more saleable?

I've attached a pic in case anyone spots anything I should be mentioning :)

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Rob

Welcome Rob, :welcome:

No risk of being flamed round here, especially with a first post with pictures - just doesn't get any better than that... Shame it has to be sold though, but hopefully it will go to a good home.

Looks like a pretty straight unmolested Estoril blue Z3M to me. But that's where my knowledge runs out on them, but we have quite a few on here so won't be long till you get some more info. Interior pictures would be useful too.

Cheers, Gary

Thanks for the replies guys, I've attempted to get my Dad onto the internet before but his knowledge only really extends to bidding on stuff on ebay with my username so I think a forum would be a push. I'm sure if anyone wanted to chat about the car in person he'd be more than happy to though, with him based out near the welsh border and me in London it's going to be a bit of a pain to sell so I'd imagine it'll end up in autotrader eventually.
Either that or I'll have to bring it down South for a few weeks :)

Here's a load more pictures for anyone who fancies a look, I'll check out in the boot over the weekend, fingers crossed there are no nasties hiding!
I know from the service book it lived on the isle of man originally and hasn't covered many miles, I think it must have been a sunny day car for most of its life :)

Not sure £2500 will secure it but I'll know more after the weekend :)

Wow lovely looking ///M your Dad has there with all black interior which is highly sought after by some as it is sometimes preferable to the two tone usually found in most ///M's. That is also a facelift model which should have the softtop lining making the cabin slightly warmer during winter months.

Hope the sale goes well for you and that a forum member snaps your hand off for that beauty.

I've actually had a chance to get a better look at the car now and the paperwork with it so I'll advertise it in the for sale section on here and on the roadster.net forum as well. It would be nice to think that it went to someone who was an enthusiast so hopefully someone will pick it up here if the price doesn't put too many people off :S
Although I have to say the more time I spend the with the car the tighter my grip becomes on the keys... Funny that!

Rob once you drive an ///M it makes you appreciate a decent car
There are not many new super cars out there that match it
Once sold i feel you might regret it:bashhead:
Take it out on a longish drive with the top down and come back and reflect, sell or keep
The later will be the answer:coolsteer)

You are asking a very fair price, have you had a price from a dealer?
i feel that wont be on here very long;)

Ray believe me I'd try and convince my Dad to hand it over if I wasn't living in central London currently.
Despite my optimistic outlook I'd rather not leave the poor thing out in the rain on the side of the street to get kicked and climbed on every Friday night.
I tried my best to be fair with the price and it doesn't seem unreasonable compared to some I've seen on Autotrader/Pistonheads/Ebay - I'd not even considered the dealer route as I'd assumed it would just be a rip off, plus they'd only sell it on for a fat profit (possibly to someone here!), if someone can get some enjoyment out of her and we get back what I'd consider fair value then I figure everyone is happy :)
That said if you know of a dealer that might be interested feel free to PM me the details, I can always explore the possibility as otherwise she'll just sit on the drive unused :(

I'll probably get shot down, but like several members on here mines a summer car
If money is not the main reason to sell, have a good think about it,
I would imagine I'm peeing somebody off who's hovering to snap it up, hey ho
