You could special order Dakar, but yes pretty much the engines you've listed are your likely bets (although I don't recall ever seeing a 2.0 in Dakar). They also made the ///M in Dakar.
A quick peek on Autotrader only lists one Dakar, which is a 2.2i Sport for £6k, or an ///M in Dakar for £20k on eBay. You may find more will emerge for sale early next year. Personally I'm waiting till March till I list my 2.2.
Yes, I've been to see that one. It has sat idle for a long time sadly, anything that could have corroded or tarnished has. All the brightwork has mottled, and green mildew has formed on the roof, seats etc. The brake discs have severly corroded so that there virtually no braking other than a gentle stop. There's the start of rust inside engine compartment, and a dent in rear wing, plus a severe dent on drivers side cill under door where its hit a kerb, along the length of the car. There are a few other niggles, like the door treads, exhaust needing replacement. I made an offer but was refused. Seemed like a near perfect spec for me, but I would say it needs a few thousand spent on it, the above is only what I could casually notice. Shame! What do you think that might be worth?
As for waiting until next year, the spring to sell, there's a school of thought that says that's the worse time to sell! The reasoning is that everyone waits until then, then the market is flooded with choice. Over supply means that prices can well be lower. A well prepared car will sell quicker in the autumn to a keener market as there are fewer about. Wel, that's the theory!
