Still a bit to go mate, tool kit, spare wheel, boot carpets, rear window and a few odds and sods.

Seats look great

What kit did you use and do you mind sharing what it cost? Thinking of doing mine but seen a few different kits. Previously used scuffmaster but looking at changing the colour on the bolsters etc but need to know about prepping and sealing it.

Thanks. I used a kit from Furniture Clinic, I got the Medium Recolouring kit for £75. The small kit cost £50, in hindsight the small would've been enough for just the seats. Comes with everything from prep kit to finish kit, complete with a mini air gun that works off the supplied expellent cans. Plenty of all products with a comprehensive step by step guide. The medium would be enough to do an extended leather interior I should think. The site has a full BMW colour chart for reference.

Thanks Andy. I have extended leather also which I'd recolour, but only the part of the seats that have the contrasting colour not the whole thing so maybe a small kit would do the lot. Sounds good about the mini air gun, I've heard it's a much better finish using an air gun rather than a sponge so would prefer to use something like this.

As I had plenty of time I decided to sponge on 3 coats then I used the air gun to apply the finish to lock it in. If spraying on you'll need to immerse the cans in warm water first as the expellent process freezes it up during application. 1 can gave me enough to apply 3 finish coats per seat.

That's good info and will help a lot if and when I do it! Is the finish coat just like a clear sealant or is it the same colour as the dye?

In the plastic bottles it's a white liquid but when applied it's clear. If you get a run, I had a couple, just dab with a clean cloth then crack on. I used a hair dryer to hasten the drying process between coats, says leave for 15 mins but it was cold so would take longer.

Edit: There's also a 15ml bottle of clear liquid that you add to the finish coat, once mixed it must be used with 7 days.

Is it a matt finish like when they came out of the factory or shiny? I've seen you can get stuff to give either type of finish.

Mine's a semi matt finish, it sits between the two. If I'm honest, if there's a difference between these seats now, my old seats that came with the car and the remainder, I can't see it so it's a good match. The camera doesn't do it justice.

A blow on my exhaust fixed,
20201015_170051.jpg

A local exhaust specialist cut out the offending part, cut from just the other side of the Cat factory weld and took out the offending part then welded in a new piece of pipe. Sounds and goes much better now, which is nice.

Edit: that's the before shot.

Been meaning to check the scuttle drains for ages, job done and all is well. Scuttle cleaned and layered with AG bumper gell and seal cleaned and given a layer of Gummifledge.
